The Seasoned Scrapper - Spring - Week 2

Well the second week of the LSBS Seasoned Scrapper "Spring" has just about come to an end and my Layout has been uploaded and explained and ready for criticism, love, envy whatever you wish to throw at it in the LSBS gallery... Either that or you can see it here - and again criticise, love or envy it from here (no idea why anyone would envy but it sounded right LOL)

Week 2: Sunny Babies

Challenge Requirements :

* Scrap a baby photo taken out in the sun
and
* Use Flowers

Here is my LO - please note I simply HATE my handwriting here - but it was what I wanted, and once on a little bit hard to take off ;)

Happiness Is...

The baby is my Domenik when he had just turned 1. He's in the garden enjoying the sunshine with our cat Portia Smile I was rather addicted to dressing him in little Noo outfits LOL sad eh - but he is just too cute!! LOL

The flowers have had diamond stickles put on their petals to lift them and allow them to be moulded a little and I've sewn the stems and leaves. The banner was made from chippie I've covered with PP and I've painted the chippie "happiness" with twinkling H2O's.

The phrases I have written are in answer to "happiness is..."

*flowers dancing in the wind
*baby hugs and giggles,
*new life and starting over
*ladybugs and butterflies
*warm kisses from the sun
*rain on hot red dirt
*the scent of freshly mown grass
*sunshine and fluffy clouds and
*Springtime

My LO is about a letter Kahli slipped into my wallet without me realising until my DH, Domenik and I were in WA for a friends wedding March last year. It's such a special piece of paper for me, this is the first time it's been out of my wallet (except when I've been reading/holding it) since I discovered it... I love that she did this - it's a real treasure for me Smile Put together using materials from the Scrapbook Nook kit for July 2010 featuring Sassafrass Lass papers.

The journalling (which is a mess, Kids interrupting, bumping and being pains whilst I was trying to write augh!!) reads:

"When Nathan, Dom and I went to Kalgoorlie for Ben and Paula's wedding on March 19th 2009 I found Kahli had slipped this letter into my wallet. On the back is her spelling list!!

Through the tough times with her I would often get it out and realise she really is a sweet little things despite it all"

PS: Kahli throws the most shocking temper tantrums and is currently being investigated for being on the autism spectrum (her older brother has aspergers so it's a strong possibility) hence the last paragraph.

Hope you like Smile I loved completing this challenge - it made me think but in the end it's come together as a very special LO for me Smile

I Won!!! And a Scrappy Share :)

I can't believe I've done it again!!! I won one of the monthly challenged for July on SBT50!!! I didn't think any of my LO's would be good enough last month to be in the running for a prize, let alone win!!! I also won (as preciously mentioned) a product giveaway for the cyber crop so things looking good there :)

The LO that won was Challenge 1, Antheas Colour Challenge, you can find my blog link to it HERE....

Yaayy!! I win a gorgeous Vintage Blue pack from Wicked Princess - it looks sooo delish and right up my alley :)

they are still purchasable from Wicked Princess HERE if you like the look of the prize :)

Now for a scrappy share I've been holding on to as it was part of a monthly challenge pack for Scraphappy Kat. Others have started sharing and lodgement date is well and truly over so I'm comfortable with sharing even though the winner hasn't been announced yet...

Soooo This months challenge was to use ONLY what was provided in the pack the only allowance was to use adhesives... no ink or anything - which ruled out journalling other than using the alpha's provided - definitely one for thinking outside of the square!!!. It was a gorgeous pack to use!! Lots of blues and yellows and I believe suited the photo of Kahli that I used to a 'T' :)

Baby Blue Eyes

Handmade flower from PP

Flowers and Tags

The flowers I cut from one of the PP's included. I used a distressing technique to shape the petals and then mounted the flowers from the centre with mounting tape. I'm kind of addicted to cutting and distressing at the moment :P

The tag was included in the pack, I've cut a thin bit of paper to use as a 'ribbon' to thread through the hole that was punched.

The background 'doily' looking paper was made using my smallest punch for my eyelet setter - some of them aren't that great but I think I was able to hide most of the wonky ones LOL and

The buckle on the 'ribbon' is a square sticker that was in the pack that I've cut to allow a ribbon of paper to be threaded through - I thought it was quite effective to finish off and frame the image.

Finally, I know the punched border isn't the best, I wanted a beautiful flourish up in the top right hand corner, but wasn't quite able to pull it off... It definitely needed the border to complete the page, I just wish i had another sheet of paper to re-do the flourish again....

SBT50 Swaps June 2010

Swaps, I've discovered are a great way to share our scrappy talents :) Recently I completed some swaps for the Scrapbooking top 50 Australia girls.

So for the swaps, We had a ribbon and matching button swap. I made the buttons to match some beautiful ribbons... Yes I MADE the buttons. It's simply a case of punching the desired shape out of the feature (top) cardstock, and then punching 4-5 more of the same shape in a cardstock to match, gluing the said layers (leaving the feature one for the top of course) and once all joined and sandwiched together using my eyelet cutting tool to create the holes in the centre of the buttons :) It's as simple as that!!! I've used some matte mod podge to seal some of the buttons, and others have been left 'naked' so the recipient can stamp over the top if they so desire :)

And I've made some little frog princes styled from Domeniks little toy frog for the green and blue swap....

it's the little green one in the bottom left hand corner...

and for the second group in this swap they received some little beaded butterflies I created (and used)...

Scraphappy Kat's Challenge Pack June 2010

Criteria - no limit but must use something of each element in the challenge pack

oh and see all the sewing (borders etc) it's all hand sewn!!!

Sketch

I've been having fun drawing up sketches for myself in my scrapping journey. I've found making sketches for what I can see in my head is helping me organise my LO's and get them done somewhat to what I envisaged.

Feel free to use the sketches if you think they'll work for you - but please credit the sketch back top me, and I'd LOVE to see any work you've done based on on of my sketches :)
